At the Center for American Studies, the book La sfida della democrazia. Strategie per il migliore dei mondi possibili by Roberto Menotti and Maurizio Sgroi will be presented.

Through the volume, the authors engage with a crucial question: is democracy still able to respond to the challenges of the contemporary world? The book examines the condition of democratic systems in a historical phase marked by social, economic, technological and geopolitical transformations that affect political representation, the formation of consensus, trust in institutions and the quality of public debate.

The reflection starts from the recognition of democracy as a political model still widely considered the most legitimate and desirable, yet increasingly exposed to factors of fragility: polarisation, disintermediation, the crisis of intermediate bodies, the transformation of information ecosystems, the pressure of global actors and the difficulty of institutions in governing complex processes.

The event will offer a forum for discussion on the strategies needed to strengthen democratic resilience, preserve pluralism, rebuild public trust and enable institutions to address the challenges of the twenty-first century. The presentation will bring together political, institutional, international and constitutional perspectives, highlighting the contribution of the authors and the speakers involved.
